Our bootcamps operate on fixed schedules designed to foster steady cohort progress and a supportive student community. Full-time programs typically last between three to six months, while part-time programs run for six to twelve months, with the immersive bootcamp lasting the longest in both formats. Given the structured nature of these programs, we do not permit breaks, leaves, or holidays during the bootcamp enrollment period, except in true emergencies.
Emergency Pause Policy: When a Break Is Permitted
The Emergency Pause Policy is reserved for genuine personal emergencies and should not be used as a substitute for managing day-to-day challenges. Students are responsible for keeping pace with their coursework, planning ahead to mitigate disruptions, and addressing common issues (e.g., technical issues or brief connectivity losses) independently. If a student faces difficulty keeping up due to routine challenges, the appropriate step is to reach out to our Student Success team. They can help by arranging additional academic support to keep the student on track.
Conditions for Emergency Pause Eligibility
Emergency Pauses are considered only under the following circumstances:
-
Medical Emergencies: If a student faces a medical emergency that prevents them from studying, they may submit an Emergency Pause request with supporting medical documentation.
-
Family Bereavement or Serious Illness: In the event of a death or critical illness in the immediate family, students may request an Emergency Pause by providing appropriate documentation (e.g., a death certificate).
Each Emergency Pause request is evaluated individually on a case-by-case basis. Provisional approval may be given, pending documentation submission within a specified timeframe. If the required documentation is not provided within 30 days, the Emergency Pause will be considered void, although the administration fee remains non-refundable.
How to Apply for an Emergency Pause
All Emergency Pause requests must be submitted through the designated form, where the Student Success team will review and process them. HyperionDev reserves full discretion over the final decision to grant or deny any Emergency Pause request.
Important Considerations for Approved Emergency Pauses
-
Written Confirmation: Approved pauses will include written confirmation from the HyperionDev Support team. No request will be deemed granted without this formal approval, so students should keep a record of this documentation.
-
Administrative Fee: Upon approval, an administrative fee of R3,000 is required within 48 hours to finalize the Emergency Pause.
-
Unapproved Breaks: Any pause taken without prior written approval from HyperionDev Support is considered invalid, and support during this period will be unavailable.
Emergency Pause Limitations and Restrictions
-
One-Time Request: Students may only request one Emergency Pause per bootcamp enrollment period.
-
First Week Restriction: Emergency Pause requests cannot be made within the first seven working days of the bootcamp. In cases of unavoidable circumstances (e.g., a family death), the student’s start date will be delayed, and they will join the next cohort.
-
Duration: The maximum allowed pause is 30 days. If the student does not resume studies at the end of this period, they will be disenrolled from the bootcamp.
-
Reintegration for Onsite Students: Full-time onsite students returning from an Emergency Pause will rejoin at the point where the next cohort aligns with their last completed section, ensuring they can resume studies smoothly with the correct lecture schedule.
-
Installment Payments: An Emergency Pause does not suspend tuition installment payments; all payments will continue as initially agreed.
-
Disenrollment and Tuition Fees: If a student is disenrolled after the Emergency Pause, they remain responsible for any outstanding tuition fees.
If you are considering an Emergency Pause, please ensure your request meets the criteria and submit all necessary documentation promptly. The Emergency Pause is designed to support students through unforeseen personal emergencies, allowing them to continue their studies once they are able to fully participate.
